The World Conservation Union

March 2007

The Spanish shoe maker El Naturalista, “the frog brand”, has launched with its Spring/Summer 2007 collection, a Limited Edition of the “VIANDANTE” Sneaker line (inspired by those who travel the world) to draw attention to the decline of frogs due to habitat loss, climate change and a lethal fungus.

The frog, an unmistakeable logo of El Naturalista, is in danger of extinction and therefore the company decided to join the World Conservation Union - Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation (IUCN-Med) in its fight against this problem. IUCN-Med and El Naturlalista will work together on awareness raising and the company will provide links to IUCN for further information.. Every shoe carton holds a postcard with a brush to paint your own frog, information on Mediterranean amphibians and the contact details of IUCN.

The VIANDANTE Limited Edition presents a picture of a frog in its natural environment, lasered on the shoe and then coloured by hand. This makes each pair unique and one of a kind. A maximum of 1.500 numbered pairs have been produced and can be bought starting February in the four El Naturalista and other affiliated shops around the world.

The VIANDANTE Limited Edition can be found all over the world (for a list of stock and shops, please visit www.elnaturalista.com). The retail price of approx. € 135.
