More than 20 experts on flora and Morocco's natural habitats gathered on May 31, 2016 in the "Centre de recherche forestier" of Rabat, to update the limits of Important Plant Areas (IPA) of Morocco. This meeting was coordinated by the IUCN Center for Mediterranean Cooperation.

As part of the project "Conserving wild plants and habitats for people in the south and east Mediterranean" (IPAMed) a field mission was carried out in Chélia Mountain (Algeria) from May 9-12, 2016. A team of botanists, technicians and managers have intensively surveyed the plant species in the area.

During this quarter, our local project coordinator and volunteers in Turkey have conducted monitoring of target plant species in three Important Plant Areas (IPAs) as part of the IPAMed project. Tree planting for riparian restoration and local community involvement in building awareness of important plant species took also place.

IPAMed project has participated in the XV OPTIMA (Organization for the Phyto Taxonomic Investigation of the Mediterranean Area) meeting, held in Montpellier (France) from June 6-11, 2016 and organized by Tela Botanica, the Conservatoire Botanique National Méditerranéen de Porquerolles and the University of Montpellier.

Three monitoring visits were organized by the Macedonian Ecological Society (MES) from May 9-20, 2016 to mark the Fascination of plants day in Macedonia. This activity included the monitoring of IPAs and the identification of plant species for beginners. Moreover, Some of the basic principles of monitoring of wild plants methods were presented.

During this summer the organizing committee of the 1st Mediterranean Plant Conservation Week have selected the projects and talks that will be presented during the workshop that will take place in Ulcinj, Montenegro October 26-28, 2016.
