Morocco
In Morocco, awareness activities were mainly concentrated within the Toubkal National Park. Leaflets on the Park were prepared and distributed and the collected information was posted on board-signs throughout the Park. Posters were designed and set up in the observation post of the Barbary sheep, and copies were also framed and used for various events.
The eco-museum of the Park was rehabilitated and used to inform the public about Toubkal’s natural and cultural resources and to spread awareness regarding the existing environmental threats through lectures, exhibitions and ‘special information days’ organized for partners, local communities and rural women.
A 6 km environmental educational trail was constructed by local people around the eco-museum. The trail, overlooking the valleys of Aït Mizane and Immane, is a botanical pass designed to introduce people to the most important trees and plants of the area, and their medicinal properties.
